Tagging Supplies

Here is a comprehensive list of what you need in order to start tagging:

  1. Starbucks White Mocha. I’m not sure why, but it makes the experience so much more enjoyable.
  2. Hangers: IMPORTANT! Posh Baby PREFERS METAL HANGERS. Plastic hangers can lead to bunching on the racks, and bunched clothing DOES NOT SELL.* See below for hanger resources.* You MAY use plastic child-sized or adult-sized hangers, but be sure the inner diameter of the hook is not extremely narrow. You will need adult hangers for hanging pants, skirts, and shorts.
  3. White (or light-colored) cardstock. You MUST print your tags on cardstock. We will not accept items tagged on paper. You could opt to have your tags sent in to a local printing place (like Kinkos) for printing. If that is your preference, proceed to item #4.
  4. Single Hole Punch – Not a necessity, but a punch in the top center of your tag makes attaching them so much easier.
  5. Safety Pins – In varying sizes, for attachment of tags to hangers, and clothing to clothing.
  6. Clear Packing Tape – To attach tags to equipment, shoes, strollers, etc., and to seal any ziplock bags. Do not use Scotch tape.
  7. Rubber Bands– Once you have prepared and tagged your clothing, band same gender/sizes together. It will cut your check-in time dramatically!
  8. Ziplock bags (in varying sizes) – To group small items (such as socks or accessories) together.

* Hanger Resources: This is what our consignors have told us:

"I wanted to share how I got over 400 metal hangers for FREE! From a Yahoo-group site called “Freecycle.” These are available in every city and you simply post your request for wire hangers and people who dry clean things like UNIFORMS all the time have tons they’re dying to give away! Just thought I’d share."

-Stephanie

"I walked into any dry cleaners in the area (every albano around!) And was handed a stack of hangers free of charge."

-Debb

We were also told that just by posting a request for metal hangers on Craigslist, people respond with boxes of them!
